Numbers were originally ink stamped between 19 and with the introduction of bolt-on superstrat models in 1987, they impressed the numbers into the wood, which they continue to do today. Production is very limited now (basically all custom orders like it was in the beginning) and the numbers are something like 156000 for a 2011 model. The first digit is the second digit of the production year and the rest of the serial indicates the Hamer production number. The production numbers started in 1977 with the introduction of the Sunburst model "7 0000". Four Digit serials started with "0000" (Rick Nielsen's sunburst Standard) and ran to about 0750 between 12/. The Sunbursts were numbered using a different system. For example, serial numwas built in 1977 and was the first production model guitar built. A Note on Hamer Serial Numbers In 1974 Hamer used a four digit number stamped into the wood starting with guitar 0000 and until the launch of the Sunburst this system was used on all guitars. The next four or five digits are sequentially stamped in order of production. Hamer had two serial number systems: Four Digit serials and the standard production serials. The first digit indicates the year that the instrument was built. What is posted on the site is just a fraction of what I have registered, I just have never found anyone able to properly set it up.

I maintain (and always have since the beginning in 1996) the Hamer Registry. That was wrong, one of these would have been a nice and reasonably priced guitar to start with back in the days.Don't register there-that's a dead link. I’ve mentioned in the introduction that I didn’t buy one of these back in the early 1990s because I thought “all or nothing” regarding Hamer guitars. I like how the guitar feels and the sound with the upgraded pickups is a very nice, classy 1980s tone. This has been one of my first attempt at “budget guitars”. As far as I remember I paid less than 200 EUR for the guitar plus about 140 EUR for the brand new DiMarzio pickups. Neck Position (Scuffham S-Gear, Plexmonster Preset) Sampleīridge Position (Scuffham S-Gear, Plexmonster Preset) In the neck position a DiMarzio Air Norton S is used, the pickup is a humbucker in singlecoil format. It has got a fairly warm and mellow tone and is a good supplement to the Super Distortion. While it is a high output pickup it is nowhere as harsh and brutal sounding like modern “Metal” pickups. It is a very nice pickup for a classic 1980s Hardrock / Metal tone. Today the name SuperDistortion is a bit misleading. The pickup model dates back to the 1970s and is one of the first third party pickups on the market back then.

The replacement pickup in the bridge position is a DiMarzio SuperDistortion. Up for grabs my:-Hamer Slammer Series Guitar + Marshall Gig BagMade in Korea - serial number 404557 Nice guitar with no playing issues - it is in full. The stock Hamer pickups were not bad, maybe just a bit too noisy. Hamer Californian “Slammer Series” – neck joint
